Section 1: Rationale (approx. 150 words)
Over the two years, I have learned a wide range of new techniques and disciplines across all the units of study. This course has given me the opportunity to learn how to better my abilities in making professional-level media products and it has also taught me what can make a professional-level piece of work look amateur and basic.

I have learned a variety of skills that I will be able to take with me only further study and into the workplace such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Audition.

Throughout the course, I developed my teamwork skills drastically. Prior to this course, I wasn't able to properly function in a team setting. This skill is going to help me further in the workplace since I would like to work on moving image pieces which would have a large team behind them, therefore this skill is integral.
Section 2: Project concept (approx. 200 words)
I am going to make a documentary that explains how people with mental health issues in the UK are struggling with exams. The documentary is going to include interviews with people suffering from a range of mental health problems. The interviews will be condensed down and only small segments will be added to the actual documentary itself, but the full interviews will also be added to my blog as a part of the project. Since most of the people being interviewed won't want their face shown on camera, I am going to be using After Effects to be making basic graphics to help the visual side of my documentary.

The aim of my project is to show people how detrimental exams can be to people's mental health as not all people learn and retain information in the same way. I want to show how people's past experiences and events that you wouldn't link to school or exams are affecting the young people of today. There's a lot more pressure being put onto the shoulders of young people today than before and I want to give the people suffering a voice. I have researched the potential mental health crisis the UK is facing amongst its young people and what treatment is being given to those who are being given professional help.

I would like my documentary to reach around 10-20 minutes, depending on the content and length of answers given during the interviews. My ideal target would be around 15 minutes since this isn't too long that people would begin to lose interest and it's still long enough to get across key information to the viewer.

I want my documentary to be consumed primarily online via video sites such as YouTube. However, this documentary could also be used in places such as schools and colleges to teach and show people about the pressures on young people's mental health today.
Section 3: Evaluation (approx. 150 words)
I will be continually evaluating throughout this project. In order to evaluate and reflect on what I have done and what progress I will have made, I will be using a wide variety of different methods to determine what I have achieved at each stage of my project. Methods that I could use to evaluate my work could include note-taking and a weekly filmed evaluation to a camera to summerise what I completed, thought of and didn't complete during that week. Throughout this project, I will also be conducting focus groups with people included and not included in the target audience in order to get general feedback from an audience that would potentially be consuming my product.

At the end of the 10 weeks given for this project, I am going to look over everything that happened throughout the project and provide overall written feedback about my work and the target audience's opinions to the final piece. This written evaluation would take into account all of the previous 10 weekly evaluations, all of the focus groups conducted and any other methods of evaluation and reflection I may have used throughout this project.
